If service is deemed insufficient, the whole case could be dismissed. This makes it very vital for servers to be aware of the laws of the state concerning the proper way to legally serve a defendant. Servers should be fully aware of all the laws that are applied when effecting service on a defendant. It is important to note that servers are individuals who possess training in law, therefore they can be held liable for negligence if they fail to effect the service properly.
